
Welcome to Electric Power Systems! This course is mainly designed for the Under Graduate Course students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department who are planning their careers in power sector and Practicing Engineers in the field of Electrical Power Systems with less than 5 years of experience.
This course familiarizes you with the evaluation of Power Systems from its primitive stage to the present scenario and also provides you with basic vocabulary used in the industry. It introduces the electric power system, from generation of the electricity all the way to the wall plug through Various segments of power systems like Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems. You will learn about the segments of the system, and common components like power cables and transmission lines.
Deals with the generation of over voltages and how insulation coordination can be used to overcome the problems caused by over voltages. Learners will also get a chance to understand the Principles of Switchgear and how different protection Schemes can be used to ensure the protection of power system components and security of power system as a whole.
The course is offered in blended mode with online face-to-face interactions, recorded videos, readings and discussions. This is the first course for beginners who want to understand and explore the various facets of the power sector, and features in terms of Energy Production, Distribution & Safety to achieve their professional goal.
